Definition of Pharmacopoeia
According to Wikipedia: A pharmacopoeia, pharmacopoeia, or pharmacopoeia (from the obsolete typography pharmacopoeia, meaning “drug manufacture”), in its modern technical sense, is a book containing instructions for the identification of compounded drugs and published by the authority of a government or a medical or pharmaceutical society.

01. United States Pharmacopeia
United States Pharmacopeia is also known as USP, It has many versions like USP Pharmacopeia (44 – NF 39)
and new editions are still coming after a specific time period.As previously PDF USP 43 NF 38 United States Pharmacopeia 2020 was launched and USP Dietary Supplements Compendium and more. Its INN command prompt is USP. The USP is issued in combination with the National Formulary as USP-NF. The USP is an official compendium of drugs marketed in the US and published annually by the United States Pharmacopeial Convention. To avoid potential charges of adulteration and mislabeling, a drug on the US market must meet USP–NF standards.
Monographs of drug substances, compound preparations, and dosage forms are filed in USP. Monographs for dietary supplements and ingredients are listed in a section other than USP. The monographs for Excipients are in the NF.
On December 15, 1820, the first edition of the United States Pharmacopeia was published, in both English and Latin. It has been published annually since 2002. The first US national formulary appeared in 1888. In 1992, the electronic version of USP-NF was introduced on diskettes. USP has laboratories in India, Brazil, China, and the United States.

02. British Pharmacopoeia
British Pharmaceuticals (BP) is the UK’s only comprehensive repository of authoritative government standards for pharmaceuticals and drug products. Includes approximately 4,000 monographs legally promulgated by the Human Medicine Regulations 2012.
Since 1864, BP has supplied official standards for medicines. It was made up of two sections.
Part I: – Materia Medica
Part II: – Preparation and compounds
In 1953 the eighth edition of BP was published. In this edition, drug and preparation titles were in English instead of Latin and metric. BP has been published annually. Monographs of material used specifically in the preparation of traditional Chinese medicines have been presented at BP 2007.
The term “Gastroresistant” has been replaced by “Enteric Coated” and the term “Prolonged Release” has been replaced by the term “Slow” in the monograph number. The Pharmacopoeia Secretariat, in collaboration with the British Pharmacopoeia Commission (BPC), the British Pharmacopoeia Laboratory and their Expert Advisory Groups (EAGs) and Advisory Panels, has been publishing the British Pharmacopoeia.

03. International Pharmacopoeia
The International Pharmacopoeia has been published by the World Health Organization (WHO). Its INN system symbol is Ph. Int. In 1951 the first volume of the International Pharmacopoeia was published. The International Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Int.) constitutes a collection of recommended procedures for the analysis and specifications for the determination of pharmaceutical substances and dosage forms that are intended to serve as a source of reference or adaptation by any Member State of the WHO that wishes to establish pharmaceutical requirements. . The eighth edition of the International Pharmacopoeia was published in 2018.
04. European Pharmacopoeia
European Pharmacopoeia or EP is published by the Council of Europe.; European Pharmacopoeia Commission.
It is Europe’s legal and scientific benchmark for pharmacopoeia standards. It helps supply high-quality medicines in Europe and beyond. It is a published collection of monographs describing active and inactive ingredients, drug analysis methods, reagent descriptions, animal, human, or herbal origin, homoeopathic stocks and homeopathic preparations, antibiotics, vaccines, as well as dosage forms, and containers. It also contains texts on biological products, blood and plasma derivatives, and radiopharmaceutical preparations. In 1969, the first edition of the Ph. Eur. was published which consisted of 120 texts.

05. Indian Pharmacopoeia
Indian Pharmacopoeia also known as INN system symbol IP. Indian Pharmacopoeia or simply Ip pharmacopoeia managed by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission.
The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has been released as intellectual property under the authority of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. For the manufacture and sale of medicines in the Indian market, IPC sets standards.
IP-2018 contains 4 Volumes incorporating 220 new monographs (Chemical Monographs (170), Herb Monographs (15), Veterinary Monographs (14), Blood and Blood-related Products (10), Therapeutic Products Derived from Biotechnology (06 ), Radiopharmaceutical monographs (03), Vaccines and immunosera for human use monographs (02)), as well as 366 revised monographs and 7 omissions.

06. Japanese Pharmacopoeia
Japanese Pharmacopoeia or simply JP is the official pharmacopoeia of Japan. The Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP) is an official document that describes the specifications, standards, and standardized testing methods required to ensure the quality of medicines in Japan. Agency for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices under the authority of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare have been published JP. The first edition was published on June 25, 1886, and revisions were published from time to time. The current revision is number 17, issued electronically in English on March 7, 2016. On June 25, 1886, JP was first published and implemented in July 1887 and issued electronically in English on March 7, 2016 .JP has been revised periodically.

07. Chinese Pharmacopoeia
Chinese Pharmacopoeia is known as ChP in short. And it is also a part of our list of All Pharmacopoeia list. The Pharmacopoeia Commission under the authority of the Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China has published the Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China (PPRC) or ChP. ChP is an official drug compendium covering traditional Chinese and Western medicine, including information, but not limited to description, purity, testing, caution, storage, potency and dosage standards for each drug. In addition, it is recognized as the official Chinese pharmacopoeia by the WHO.
Monographs in Volume I deal with Chinese medical material and cut slices, traditional Chinese patent medicines, vegetable oil/fat and its extract, single ingredient of Chinese crude medicine preparations, etc.
The Monographs of Volume II contain antibiotics, chemical drugs, prepared biochemical uses, radiopharmaceuticals as well as pharmaceutical excipients.
The monographs in Volume III deal with biological products.

08. Brazilian Pharmacopoeia
There is an edition also available in Brazilian Pharmacopoeia and it is managed by The Brazilian Agency for Health Regulation (Anvisa). Anvisa is an authority linked to the Ministry of Health, part of the Brazilian National Health System (SUS) as coordinator of the Brazilian Health Regulation System (SNVS), present throughout the national territory.
