The book Goldberger’s Clinical Electrocardiography is written by Ary L. Goldberger, Zachary D. Goldberger, and Alexei Shvilkin. This book is an introduction to electrocardiography. We have written it, especially for medical students, interns, and nurses. It does not imply prior instruction in electrocardiogram reading. The book has been widely used in introductory courses on the subject. “Front-line” clinicians, including hospitalists, emergency medicine physicians, cardiology instructors, and trainees who want to brush up on ECG basics, have also found previous editions useful.
Our “target” reader is the doctor who has to look at ECGs without immediate specialist support and make critical decisions, sometimes at 3 am! This new eighth edition, more compact, is divided into three sections. The first part covers the basic principles of electrocardiography, normal ECG patterns, and major abnormal depolarization (P-QRS) and repolarization (ST-T-U) patterns. The second part describes the main abnormalities of fast and slow heart rhythms. The third part briefly presents an overview and review of the material. Additional material, both new and reviewed, will also be available in a new online supplement.
