The book Ethics and Legal Professionalism in Australia is written by Paula Baron, and Lillian Corbin. This book is about lawyers, their obligations to professional conduct, and their ethical choices. Its focus is on Australia, but issues related to lawyer ethics and conduct are commonly experienced in other common law jurisdictions, such as the UK and the US, and we have drawn on the literature from those jurisdictions. when appropriate.
Our goal in writing this book is to provide an overview of the professional ethics of law. While we have made every effort to present the material in this book as succinctly as possible, this book can only be a guide to key concepts, relevant rules, and potential conflicts related to legal ethics. We want to encourage discussion and debate —inside and outside the classroom— about professional obligations, their foundations, their expression in the various rules of professional conduct; the relationship between the profession and the public; and the relationship between the profession and regulatory bodies.

Overview of Ethics and Legal Professionalism in Australia
Ethics and Legal Professionalism in Australia introduce students to the ethics and professional responsibilities they will encounter in practice. Describes the concepts, rules, and conflicts related to legal ethics as well as explores the ambiguous ethical issues associated with being a lawyer.
This text takes a thematic approach, with each chapter focusing on a topic and how it relates to the professional obligations of lawyers, rather than simply focusing on the rules of professional conduct. Lawyers do not work in a vacuum, but rather within a framework of legal and professional regulation, and having the ability to make sound professional decisions is at the core of good professional conduct.
This edition has been updated to include the Uniform Law framework that has been implemented in NSW and VIC and includes tables outlining the sections and comparative rules for each Australian jurisdiction.
