About the Author
Hannah Abbott is an Operations Department Practitioner with both clinical and academic experience, having held senior leadership and teaching positions at institutes of higher education. She is currently an Associate Professor and Associate Head of School at Birmingham City University, and President of the College of Operational Department Practitioners (COPD). Hannah’s current research includes non-technical skills in the perioperative environment and patient safety, in addition to her pedagogical research interests.
Mark Ranson is a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in healthcare practice, including acute medicine, critical care, cardiology, and cardiothoracic practice areas. He currently works as Senior Lecturer in Acute and Critical Care at Suffolk University in Ipswich. Mark’s main areas of interest lie in advancing the practice of health care, as well as a keen interest in anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology as it relates to the practice of health care.
