More importantly, such knowledge needs to be able to be used in less than ideal situations, when the lack of information and evidence is less than required. Published pharmaceutical literature is rich in reviews, case studies, critiques and debates, advocacy of special methods and interesting new methods. What is lacking, however, is an overview of the state of knowledge that is clear, concise and accessible. For those who are just starting a career in pharmacovigilance or just want to get the right knowledge about discipline, here is what they need to know.
The challenge of pharmacovigilance is as big if not as big after the thalidomide tragedy. If the public, patients and health professionals have to trust their products, it is a challenge to the commitment of all involved in the development, marketing and regulation of medicines.
